Hello friends,
We are on the verge of massive change. Tomorrow is an election in the United States of America and, like many of you, I’m living with a swirling mix of angina and adrenaline, trepidation and trust.
What better time, I dare ask, then to launch a brand new newsletter — one that I hope will be of some value to designers, artists and visual communicators of all stripes. It’s called Dear Designer and it will be slightly different than Gornisht.
First, it will be easier to pronounce.
Second, it will have a slightly different focus. I’ll write about design and designers, typography and typing, wellness and worry.
I’m 100% confident that the newsletter will change over time.
I’m also 100% sure that this is the time to launch Dear Designer. We need designers to flourish. We need design to work for all of us. We need design to live up to its earliest promises of delivering real human connection, meaningful conversations and real social change.
Mostly, more than ever, I believe we need art — including the art of the everyday — to thrive.
What’s happening here
I am taking the liberty of migrating your current subscription from Gornisht to Dear Designer, where I’ll start posting tomorrow. If you want to unsubscribe now, I respect that. If you want to unsubscribe later, I understand. I may call you, though.
But I really do hope you’ll stick with me. I’m going to do my best to publish once a week on Dear Designer.
Wishing you — and all of us — a week of good. A week of peace. See you soon.
Yours,
Andrew
Looking forward to it : )
