A wish of happiness

A joyful new year and all good things for thee in 2023 (rhyming is hard.)

This past year has been challenging for so many people, including me. It was, in fact, a difficult, exasperating and crooked year. My mother’s passing, bouts of grief and sorrow, and a number of physical setbacks all came to set upon me. And yet, I’m also incredibly grateful for everything — especially for the people I know and for the privilege of being with them and supporting them.

The commemoration of this day, New Year’s, is somewhat arbitrary — England only recognized the holiday in 1752. But the emergence of a new year is nonetheless a milestone and worth celebrating. It is designed to give us pause, even for a moment, and to remember our time and place, this here and this now. I, for one, am glad to welcome it in.

May this new year of 2023 be good to you and all of those around you. May it bring you joy, grace and wellbeing.

I look forward.
